Here is the official Skyline PTA position adopted at the 10.08.26 meeting:
The Skyline PTA asks Portland Public Schools to keep Skyline's current high school assignment. The proposed boundary adjustment scenarios, which suggest Skyline K-8 feed into Roosevelt High School, present a unique student safety and education access challenge. Specifically, the St Johns Bridge would be the only direct route to and from the high school; and it is an unreliable route, prone to regular traffic disruptions. This will result in lost instructional time for our students. Furthermore, in the event of bridge closures for any reason, or inevitable extensive damage in an earthquake, there is no route for students to reunite with their families that does not require crossing the Willamette River. We are calling on PPS to keep Skyline kids on the same side of the river and feeding into Lincoln.
